- Home visits: At the start of September, the Reception teacher visits each child at home to support a smooth transition.
- Nursery links: We liaise with nurseries and pre‑schools to understand your child’s learning and interests, helping them settle quickly.

Children follow a two‑year rolling programme of topics, ensuring full coverage of the National Curriculum without repetition.
Parent–Teacher Communication
- Teachers are available briefly before and after school for quick messages.
- For longer discussions, please email the office: office@harstonnewton.org to arrange an appointment.
- Formal parent meetings take place in October and February to review progress and set targets.
- In July, you’ll receive your child’s annual report and can attend our Open Evening.
Meet the Teacher
Each September we hold a Meet the Teacher evening where you can learn about routines, curriculum, and homework, and ask questions. In July, there is an informal open session to view your child’s work and visit classrooms.
