School Meals
Meals are cooked on site using fresh, local produce. Children are offered a choice of main course and dessert each day, with menus displayed outside the school office, on the kitchen noticeboard, and on the school website.
- Reception, Year 1 & Year 2: Free school meals via Universal Free Meals funding
- Preschool: £2.50 per day
- Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6): £3.20 per day (subject to change in September)
School meals must be paid for in advance. If the debt exceeds £15.25, you will be asked to provide a packed lunch until the balance is cleared. Payments can be made via the My Child at School (MCAS) app. Details of the app, including your School ID, User ID, and Password, will be sent once your child starts school.
Children entitled to Pupil Premium automatically receive free school meals. For parents wishing to pay in blocks, meal costs for each half-term are published in the school newsletter.
Our caterers, HCL, can provide a range of special diets including gluten- and dairy-free options. If your child has a food allergy, please complete the special diet registration form. A dietitian will then provide a tailored menu with daily options.
Packed Lunches
Children may bring a packed lunch if they prefer. Lunchboxes are stored on trolleys near the dinner hall (KS1) or in the Hub (KS2). Packed lunch and school meal children sit together. Drinks should be in plastic or unbreakable containers – fizzy drinks are not permitted. Sweets and chocolate bars are not allowed, though a cake or chocolate biscuit may be included as part of a balanced meal.
Playtime Snacks
All Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children are provided with a piece of fruit each day under the Government’s Healthy Snacks in School scheme. They do not need to bring anything else, although some parents choose to provide an additional piece of fruit. Key Stage 2 children are not included in this scheme, so we encourage them to bring a healthy snack such as fruit or a carrot. Please note that biscuits, crisps, cakes, and similar items are not permitted as playtime snacks. If children have these items in their packed lunch boxes, they must only be eaten in the hall at lunchtime.
Milk
If you would like your child to have milk at break time, please register with Cool Milk. Registration should be completed before your child starts school, ensuring you enter the correct start date and class (Amber). Once registered, your child will receive 1/3 pint of milk each day. Milk is free for under-fives and for children in receipt of Pupil Premium, and subsidised for over-fives.
Water Bottles
We encourage children to drink water throughout the school day. Please provide a named water bottle for your child to keep in the classroom. Bottles can be refilled at school, but should contain water only – not squash or other drinks.
A Nut-Free School
We are committed to being a nut-free school to protect children with severe allergies. Please do not send any items containing nuts, including snack bars, biscuits, or cakes for class cake sales.
