Since September 2013, the government has provided additional funding to enhance the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding—jointly provided by the Department for Education, the Department of Health, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport—is allocated to primary school headteachers based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6.
At Harston and Newton Primary School, we have used this funding to make significant improvements to the quality of PE and sport we offer. The impact can be seen in the increased opportunities, higher standards, and greater enjoyment experienced by our pupils.
Below you will find detailed breakdowns showing:
- How the funding has been spent.
- The improvements it has brought to our PE and sport provision.
- The positive outcomes for our children.
Since 2018, we also publish data on the swimming proficiency of our Year 6 leavers, ensuring transparency and celebrating their achievements.
